Can Mississippi State Force A Game 3 for the National Championship?

Everything that could go wrong in game 1 of National Championship Series did in the bottom of the 1st last night for Mississippi State. Starter Christian MacLeod had a stage 5 meltdown only retiring 2 of 8 batters he faced (2 hits, 2 walks, 2 HBP). With the Bulldogs trailing 4-1, coach Chris Lemonis took him out of the game only for Vandy 3B Jayson Gonzalez to hit this 3 run homer immediately to bust the game open 7-1 after it had barely started.

Vanderbilt started their ace Jack Leiter and this everyone in TD Ameritrade knew this thing was over already. Even by my lofty Omaha standards, losing an Under 7.5 runs bet in the 1st inning was another all time low gambling accomplishment for me.

I was impressed by Mississippi State fans plan to counter the infamous Vandy whistler. Every time he whistled the Bulldog fans yelled “Let’s Go State!” That whole plan fell apart in the 7 run Vandy 1st but I did admire them for trying. The whistler just has too much stamina.

I did another mid game Monday night video with Jack Leiter pitching and jinxed him yet again! This time Vandy was up 7-1 so it did not matter as much.

The game was pretty uneventful after that Vandy 7 run first inning and the ‘Dores won 8-2 to take a 1-0 lead in the best 2 of 3 series. Mississippi State fans still have lots of hope however as the obvious State path to winning this series was winning games 2 and 3.

I have been very impressed by the turnout from the State fans. They had to be 17-18,000 of the 25,000 in the stadium last night. They also have shown up in full force for Picks Central at DJ’s Dugout the last 2 days. I felt great about both shows working with Brandon Walker and Barstool Carl. We have clicked on this never ending trip and I hope to do more content with Carl in the future. Our personalities both feed off positive energy vibes and energy.
